Ordering
How to search for books
You will find our search box on the top of every page. You can search by entering the author, book title, book code (from our printed material) or keyword into the search box. If there are no results found for your search, you will be presented with search tips to aid with your search. If you are still unable to find the book you are looking for, this means that we do not currently hold the book in stock.
About the shopping basket
To add items to your basket whilst you are browsing the site simply click the ‘add to basket’ button against the product. Alternatively, select the ‘more information’ button, specify the quantity you wish to purchase and click ‘add to basket’. (See ordering restrictions for more information).
As you browse the site and make your selections you can use the mini-basket at the top right-hand side of each page to monitor the quantity of items that have been added to your basket and the total cost of your order before any relevant promotions are applied. To view the contents of your basket in detail, you must select the ‘view basket’ link to the left of the page or click on the basket icon displayed within the mini-basket.
Important information:
Any books placed in your shopping basket whilst you are logged in will be held for a short period of time if you choose to leave the site before placing your order. This means that if you return to the site and log in, your previous selections will appear in the shopping basket (provided there is still stock of each item), along with any other books you have added to the basket before logging in.
Once in the main basket it is possible to view full details of all items you have chosen to purchase, and to make any necessary amendments before submitting the order, (including deleting items, changing quantities and applying promotions/discounts).
How to delete an item
Click on the dustbin icon next to the item you wish to remove from the basket.
How to change quantity
To change the quantity of any item that is in your basket, select the number required from the drop-down box and click ‘update’ to save any changes.
Vouchers
If you have received a voucher, simply enter the printed voucher code into the box provided and click 'Claim'. If you are eligible for a discount or promotion or have entered a voucher code, the name of the offer and the saving will appear in a separate box within the basket section. Note: it will be possible to see your order total both before and after any discounts have been applied.
Submitting your order
Once you are happy with the contents of your basket and have made any relevant amendments, you must firstly ensure that you are registered/logged in and then click ‘proceed’. You will then be prompted to choose your delivery and payment methods before finally submitting your order.
Guide to Quick Shop
The Quick Shop facility is aimed at customers who have a copy of our catalogue, but prefer to place their order online. It allows you to use the book codes provided in the catalogue to purchase books quickly and easily. You can get to the Quick Shop facility by clicking on My Basket.
You will see that there are two boxes which require filling for each product. You will need to enter the 3 digit numerical prefix for the product in the first box and the product code into the second box. This information is clearly presented and easily accessible from the printed catalogue. Each time you enter a code and hit 'Buy', the product will appear in your basket underneath the Quick Shop.
How to track your order
Once you have placed an order with Guardian Books, it is possible to check the progress of your order through the 'My Account' area of the site. You can see all of your orders here, including any which have been placed by post or on the telephone.
Simply register your account online and log in, go to 'My Account' and click on the 'Order Tracking' option. Here, you will see a list of recent orders showing the status of each book, including which titles are still on order, on pre-order, have been despatched and the date they left the warehouse. You can then view more information about each order including the delivery address given and the courier company the parcel was sent with. Once an order is showing as despatched, you can choose to track the parcels with the relevant courier by linking to their site and using the tracking numbers we provide you with.

If your order is overdue and your order tracking account doesn't state that the order has been despatched, please contact our customer services by calling 0845 606 4232 or using our enquiries form and we will be happy to help trace your order for you.
Cancelling your order
We're very sorry, but we are unable to cancel an order once it has been submitted. However should you no longer require your order after it has been submitted, please refer to our ordering policy.
Ordering restrictions on books
Guardian Books sells directly to the public only. We do not offer any books for third party re-sale. For this reason, there are restrictions on ordering. You cannot order more than 9 of the same book online. If you would like to make a purchase of more than 9 of the same title, please telephone our order line on 0845 606 4232 and an operator will review your order.
